Problem: Client receives nightly inventory uploads from several dozen
vendors. Each vendor has their own data format (Excel 95-XP, dBase, CSV,
tab-delimited, etc.) Manually importing each file is tedious and
time-consuming.
Solution:
Perl script to automate nightly inventory uploads and an instant messaging robot to query the data.

Site design and planning by Tsunami Marketing
I was brought in as a contractor to code the administration and advertising interfaces according to client specifications.
It is important to note that the entire site is managed and maintained through these interfaces.
The client never needs to fire up an FTP client or see HTML.

Problem:
Client needs simple, bulletproof method to keep web site up-to-date and consistent with
product line and inventory. Hand coding is a poor option because some products contain
dozens of individual parts, and product line changes frequently.
Solution:

Problem:
A national pharmaceutical corporation has a valuable (but vast and disorganized)
set of data pertaining to their own products as well as competitors products.
The goal is to give sales staff access to this information so as to better serve
their customers (generating more sales), and to allow sales managers to better
understand what is a very complex product line.
Solution:
After a good deal of data extraction and massaging with Perl, we have an SQL
database and a powerful and flexible PHP front end to query the data. Sales
staff can now log in to this web interface and, given a competitors part number
or product characteristics, find suitable products for a customer.
